Jeans are a forever staple in our closets. As the weather turns warmer, white jeans make an appearance to reflect the warmer temperatures of the day.

The French style of dressing denim, no matter the wash, is simple, yet chic. The jeans that French women wear are usually a straight leg pair that are a bit loose. French women tend to shy away from skinny jeans, and prefer a high waist dark denim pair.

White jeans are a wardrobe essential. Whether in ecru, ivory, or cream, white denim is undoubtedly a spring-summer wardrobe essential. However, that doesn’t mean that the pair should be confined to the warmer weather. The classic staple could be worn during the colder seasons with a camel coat and a pair of ankle boots.

Classic French Outfits

French women pair white denim with very simple, yet classic tops. During warmer temperatures, Parisians will grab floral tops or oversized blouses and pair with strappy sandals, for an effortless, chic look. Another classic style is to add a poplin shirt to white jeans and finish off with strappy sandals.

While a blue poplin shirt might be considered bold for those who prefer to dress in neutrals or strictly monochrome, this is the kind of color even Parisian women won’t be afraid to wear.

One color story that I love for spring-summer consists of brown leather sandals, white denim, and light blue-colored poplin.

Breton stripes, sometimes also called la marinière, is quintessentially French.

To tone down the preppy vibes, pair a striped top with an effortlessly cool, baggy white denim style for an edgy ensemble.

Stripes, just like houndstooth and plaid, are one of those classic prints that seemingly never fall out of favor with French fashion.  A striped top is guaranteed to give a wardrobe a Gallic chic vibe. It is the one of the most essential pieces for classic French outfits.

Finish with an oversized blazer and gorgeous slingbacks for one final touch of polish.

Is there a more classic outfit formula than a striped top and white denim?

It’s long been understood that summer style is defined by nautical striped clothing. A striped shirt may be the most uniquely French staple out there.

The perennial preppy pattern continues to reign supreme and remains the year-round French wardrobe staple because of its timeless appeal.

White jeans are not just for the summer seasons. White pants can, in fact, be worn any time of year, even past the antiquated Labor Day expiration date rule.

An all-white outfit is a statement in and of itself, especially when paired with a thick, chunky cable knit sweater.

For an effortless look, opt for a baggier, looser cut and pair with sneakers.

Coat + Jeans + Ballet Flats

Calling all French mob wives!

While the latest fashion trend calls for over-the-top fur coats and leopard print, the French woman has always embraced leopard. The key is to keep the rest simple, pairing it with head-to-toe white. French women stick to only small touches of the bold print, with a bag or a coat, in leopard print.

A pair of ballet flats grounds the look and adds the much needed feminine detail.

If the epitome of the French girl style were to have a name, it would be Jeanne Damas.

She sets herself aside from the crowds with her effortless outfits – perfectly mastering the idealized art of casual Parisian style.

A flared, crop cut of jeans, whether it be blue or white, are part of her capsule wardrobe. Tapered silhouettes pair well with button-ups and structured blazers for a put-together, effortless look.

Vest + Poplin Shirt + Denim + Loafers

White jeans are the perfect compliment to menswear staples, like an oversized blazer and sweater vests. White jeans can be incorporated into many aesthetics, but they’re especially common among preppy wardrobes.

French women love to pair loafers with a slim pair of denim.

White jeans are daunting because they’re so bold, but they don’t necessarily have to be styled lavishly, which is the definition of the French way of dressing.

A chill white jeans outfit can be as simple as the bottoms paired with a tank top designed with subtle statement details, like gold earrings and funky heels.

Cardigan + Denim + Sandals

The cardigan is an essential piece to copy the very French ‘je-ne-sais-quoi.’

Take style notes from the French and opt for a light-weight cardigan for the springtime. Parisians sport idyllic cardigans that are either cropped and embroidered for the warmer months.

Grab a basket bag and strappy block heels to hit up the streets of Paris.
