As much fun as a pair of denim shorts can be, at times they may not be the most practical summer shorts.

The very short nature of these shorts can be uncomfortable and require constant adjustment.

On the other hand, a pair of Bermuda shorts, has made itself a top spot in the shorts department for those hot summer days.

Once known as jorts, the once looked down upon style has taken off with the fashion crowd. Bermuda shorts outfit are now popular with celebrities, such as Gigi and Bella Hadid, and city-girls, alike.

Bermuda shorts are the sleek, refined cousin of denim shorts. The longer shorts feel polished and elegant – a chic alternative for when it’s simply too hot to commit to jeans.

How To Style Bermuda Shorts

When it comes to shorts, the Bermuda short may seem tricky to pull, but I assure you they are not. They go well with just about anything from a plain white t-shirt to a black blazer.

For footwear, the same goes—pair the shorts with a casual platform sandal or dress them up with a pair of heels.

There’s something so laid-back and cool about chinos, especially when they’re Bermuda shorts. Leave it to Emrata to elevate the shorts from the kind your granny would wear.

Ratajkowski gives them a totally cool edge, pairing them with a slinky black top with exposed shoulders.

The bodycon shirt offset the voluminous bottoms, balancing out the outfit’s proportions overall, the key to doing Bermuda shorts right.

For those hot summer days when you don’t want to feel frumpy but still retain a relaxed vibe, Bermuda shorts and a tank top will be your best friends.

Pair them with a basket bag and some kitten-heel pumps for maximum compliments.

The tailored style of pants, and the comfort of shorts, Bermudas make for a practical and put-together silhouette for the summer months.

Fitted tops, such as polos, added to long shorts is a no-fail summer combination.

Hitting just above the knee and fanning out from the waist in large pleats, the boxy style can be deeply unflattering if you’re not careful.

That being said, when styled right, Bermuda shorts can also be extremely chic and utilitarian.

There is an art to styling the white Bermuda shorts. The city-girl approved way is to stick to fitted tops, and to shy away from a flowy top—though you can do that!

Instead, it’s about balance.

Sometimes, wearing baggy trousers with a baggy shirt can feel like you’re drowning in fabric.

An easy way to combine the oversize pieces without overpowering a frame, regardless of body type, is to opt for Bermuda shorts instead of pants.

Wear this pairing with heels, as they add an elevated and formal touch to the otherwise casual ensemble.

Gigi’s look is all about the ease of wearing Bermuda shorts at any time.

Pairing the denim style with a cardigan, slide sandals and sunnies manages to be cute, but not complicated.

Denim puts a Nineties spin on the Bermuda short and gives the style a more relaxed fit and wearable feel.

Dress up a denim pair by styling with sleek mules, a statement bag and a crisp white shirt worn untucked. For a cooler day, add a trench to the denim Bermudas.

One added benefit of Bermuda shorts? They’re actually ideal for work wardrobes.

This staple will be your unsung hero when it’s sweltering hot outside.

Not only do the denim styles make for a great weekend outfit base, but they can easily become perfect for a go-to summer outfit for date nights.

The jean shorts of today are no longer the ultra-mini, cheeky shorts but a mature, hits-right-above-the-knee length.

And while there is a time and a place for distressed, frayed hems, denim Bermuda shorts feel polished and elegant.

If you’re a fan of dark-wash jeans, it’s time to try them in the form of denim shorts. If the knee-grazing length still terrifies you, try out a mid-length pair.

The oversized blazer harkens back to boxy fits of the ‘80s, but it’s the black denim Bermuda shorts and sleek accessories that make this look thoroughly modern.
