New Orleans is a city famous for its incredible food, jazz music and colorful culture. While it may not be a full blown party scene like Vegas, it is a fun time. It has a great balance of culture, food, and partying.

One of my favorite things to do in New Orleans is to eat. Of course, Café du Monde , widely known for their beignets and cafe du lait is a must see.

There are plenty of other fantastic spots to have brunch or dinner. There is the Royal House Oyster House to indulge in oysters while sitting in their upstairs balcony.

Commander’s Palace is one of the most famous restaurants in New Orleans.

Built in 1893, it’s well known for its blue exterior, fantastic food, and fun jazz brunches. If you are looking for a great dinner spot, try Napoleon House. Their Creole staples, such as muffalettas, are second to none.

New Orleans Outfit Ideas

There is a lot of walking in New Orleans. To get around the French Quarter or Bourbon Street, you will need flats. Save your heels for partying or dinnertime.

The weather gets quite humid during the summer months. If you are traveling during the summer, pack lightweight clothes. Think flowy dresses and sandals.

No need to pack heavy clothes. If you are traveling during the spring or fall, bring a light jacket or blazer. The dress code for the city is casual, with a touch of glam during the night.

Then, there is of course, Mardi Gras. The party of the year. Wear something fun. Maybe a sequin dress or a fun top and jeans. The options are endless for what to wear in New Orleans.

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for walking around. A maxi dress is your best option for the humid weather in the summer.

Breathable fabrics, such as cotton or linen, are the key to dealing with the humidity of the summer months.

This dress can be dressed up or down for walking around Bourbon Street during the daytime.

Add some sun protection, such as a straw hat and sunnies while out.

Pick something colorful to match the colorful, ornate decor of New Orleans restaurants and bars.

Something colorful should be on your New Orleans packing list to hit up the jazz clubs or restaurants.

For cooler evenings, add a jean jacket to keep the look relaxed.

Heading to an upscale restaurant for a good time? There are plenty of authentic Creole spots such as Mr. B’s Bistro that are a must. The service is some of the best in town, true iconic New Orleans hospitality.

Infuse some color with your look with a bold dress and high heels. If color is not for you, a little black dress is a no-fail option that always works.

Commander’s Palace sits at the heart of the Garden District and serves up delicious brunch every day of the week, as well as New Orleans jazz brunch sessions on the weekends.

What to wear to brunch is just as important as the food.

Nothing says casual more than tie-dye.

New Orleans is a casual, laid-back city.

Reflect that easiness of New Orleans fashion with a tie-dye dress and sneakers.

During the cooler months, grab a blazer or lightweight jacket.

The average temperatures during the fall or spring are around 60 degrees.

An appropriate attire would be trousers and a jacket. Don’t forget a pair of rain boots during the rainy spring season.

I like the balance of the fun, flowy dress and the metallic cowboy boots., especially during the high temps of the warmer months.

It’s a great look for Mardi Gras. In my opinion, Mardi Gras season is the best time of the year to visit the bustling season.
