Christenings are an important event for the baby and his/her parents. It makes a milestone in their spiritual lives, and it’s important to dress the part.
Just like weddings, there is an unspoken dress code to the event. But unlike weddings, the dress code is formal and modest. While some may prefer to wear a dress, others may be looking for a trouser and blazer combo, or skirt emsemble.
As a general rule of thumb, you’ll want to avoid anything which exposes too much skin. That means midi and maxi dresses or even an up-down hem are ideal.
It is a safe bet to wear something with a muted tone. Generally, black is not a good idea for a baptism. Think a neutral palette, or even pastel colors, for a baptism. It is traditional for attendees to wear lighter colors, even white, for the celebration.
Floral prints are also an acceptable print for a christening. Bold and bright colors are usually not worn for the event.
